- Healing Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease Naturally and Holistically
I’ve devoted a lifetime of study to these areas. Writing on these topics and mentoring others to extraordinary results in them is my life’s work.
Why a Focus on Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease?
A large part of my work in the early and emerging Paleo food, health and fitness community was centered around the fact the I had been diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis in 2004.
By 2010, when I started my first real blog, I had already achieved significant healing without medication through experimenting with Paleo and other related concepts.
As I write this in 2020, I’m in exceptional health.
I’m one of the very few people in the world who has healed from that illness naturally and has continued to live medication and surgery-free.
In fact, I don’t know of anyone currently who even claims to have healed the way I have.
There’s no one I know of in the world who has the self-healing experience I do with UC, as well as the scientific and communication backgrounds I have that allow me to teach so effectively.
If you want to learn more about my results in healing UC naturally and how I achieved them, check out my epic post: Healing Ulcerative Colitis Naturally – The Principal Guide.
Medical Marijuana
Medical marijuana has been an essential part of my healing practice since 2014. This is when the first few medical marijuana dispensaries opened in Connecticut. My dispensary has been Thames Valley Relief in Uncasville, CT since the start.
Medical Marijuana has been a life-changing medication for me. I’ve also seen it change the lives of many other people with inflammatory bowel disease and other serious illnesses.
Inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune disease and many psychological issues can be very effectively treated with cannabis.
It’s one of my goals to make sure those who need to know more about medical marijuana can find cutting-edge information and resources to learn from here.
Other than food and lifestyle, I consider medical marijuana to be the third pillar of healing ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease naturally. You can learn more about my exceptional results with medical marijuana and how I achieved them over the past 5 years in my post: Medical Marijuana for Ulcerative Colitis – The Principal Guide.
Helping People Grow Stronger and Fitter Since 2008
Since 2008 I’ve coached people of all ages, occupations, health status and levels of experience. My clients have included attorneys, nurses, a pastry chef, students, small business owners, combat veterans, martial artists and full-contact fighters.
The specific training methods I’ve developed and refined over the past decade-plus get exceptional results.
The specific style of kettlebell training and ancillary movements I teach are the best I’ve uncovered during a lifetime of study, teaching and learning from exceptional mentors.

I have been working with Adam for 4 months now and I have to say he is brilliant! I’m an over forty desk job worker who hates the gym… so starting from the beginning when it comes to fitness!! Adam is really good at working to my level and getting me interested in the exercises so that I’m concentrating on form and working out without realising that’s what I’m doing – I have gone from being unable to do anything that involves upper body strength (I couldn’t even do a push-up against a wall) to doing sets of push-ups on my knees and I think I will get to my goal of a full push-up soon!!!”
Adam’s specific focus on technique and correct form have not only supported me in my fitness goals but have also allowed me to gain the skills needed to work out independently with confidence. I no longer have to worry about looking like an idiot and injuring myself in the gym. If you’re a beginner and not sure where to start or you’ve been working out for a long time and you need some fine tuning then Adam’s keen eye for the finer details will suit you down to the ground. I am motivated to keep going back because I’m getting a great work out and I’m learning something new each and every session. Two for One!”

Kettlebell Training and Martial Arts
During my years of serious involvement with Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I was privileged to spend significant time with Mr. Roy Harris and Dr. Mark Cheng.
This was my introduction to Hardstyle and RKC kettlebell training, as well as some of the deepest and most profound insights imaginable about the depth and nuance of kettlebells as a lifetime fitness tool.
My time with these two exceptional teachers and marital artists profoundly influenced how I approach and teach kettlebells – particularly to other martial artists.
There are myriad martial arts applications within kettlebell training. There is no better training tool I know of for a life-long martial artist to master than the kettlebell.
I’ve spent more than a decade learning, applying and refining the most effective and efficient kettlebell training techniques for:
- Creating explosive power from the hips and core
- Rejuvenating, rehabilitating and strengthening backs, hips and shoulders
- Applying kettlebell and fitness training to martial arts and self-defense
- Building robust strength, mobility, flexibility and longevity into the body over time
Adam is amazing! I have had a bad back for over 20 years.
In the course of a few months of training with Adam I have been able to reduce my visits to the chiropractor from twice a week to one every three weeks.
His understanding of what exercises I need to do to strengthen my core and improve my general well-being are outstanding. He is able to work with my limitations and still push me to be able to do more than I thought I could.”

Official Kettlebell Competition
In 2011 and 2012, I ran two officially sanctioned IKFF kettlebell competitions. This was a unique opportunity to bring Russian kettlebell sport lifting, or “Girevoy Sport” as it’s traditionally known, to Connecticut and its fitness communities.
Here’s a video highlight reel from the competition…
I’ve Studied with the Best Kettlebell and Athletic Coaches in the World
I’ve been taught and mentored by some of the best strength, fitness and kettlebell coaches in the world. I’ve trained with world-class people including Steve Cotter, Ken Blackburn, Dr. Mark Cheng, Roy Harris, Louie Simmons, Robb Wolf and Laura Phelps, the strongest female powerlifter in the world.
I’ve relentlessly sought out mentoring with world-class experts and coaches in every area. I’m an exceptional coach because I’ve had exceptional coaches.
An Early Leader in the Paleo and Primal Health Movement
I started my first “real” blog in the Paleo niche in May of 2010. At that time, I was about 6 years into my own healing journey out of UC. It was a tiny, tiny little community that was deeply connected to CrossFit at that early time.
Paleo and it’s related ideas – that we evolved to eat, move and live in ways that our modern world has forgotten or industrialized – produced significant results for me and my clients and readers.
…My digestive system is more regular than at any other time in my life. I had always suffered stomach aches, cramping, and the classic back and forth of diarrhea and constipation associated with IBS. Now, my bowel habits are uneventful and routine. It wasn’t until I started feeling my digestion balance out that I realized how much of my day had been spent in discomfort before...”
Stefanie Lord, Newington, CT
So, this was the beginning of my journey as healer…
My Writing and Ideas Have Been Featured In Print and Online Worldwide
Since my humble beginnings sick with ulcerative colitis in 2004, I’ve written and published multiple books in the Paleo food and lifestyle genre. I was a respected and heavily-read writer for Paleo Magazine for over 4 years and contributed multiple articles to every issue from 2011 to 2015.

For more than a decade, my work has been read in print and online, in some of the most popular health and fitness magazines and websites.
Since 2016 my work has been featured online in the medical cannabis space.
I’ve also written for a number of fitness magazines and websites. I’ve written for MILO, WODTalk, TRAIN and HARDGAINER Magazines. My work has been featured on internet sites including BoxLife, MyFiveFingers and others.
I’ve also published several versions of my classic book: “The Paleo Dieter’s Missing Link.”

I later co-authored a book entitled The Paleo Miracle 2: Women of Strength. This book featured a number of the success stories I had a hand in creating. In it were the amazing stories of some of the exceptional women I met and worked with during my early years as a coach and blogger.
Live Workshops, Podcast Interviews and Public Speaking
I’ve been speaking on health, healing and fitness podcasts since 2013.
I’m an experienced and accomplished public speaker and workshop leader. I’ve lectured and taught on a wide variety of topics to all kinds of different groups and populations.
A Formal Science Education Doesn’t Hurt Either…
In case you were wondering what the B.S. is for, I have a B.S. in Chemistry, Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut.
I’ve also got a long history in scientific and technical writing as well as databases, spreadsheets and large data sets. All this experience comes together nicely for a blogger, author and health coach.
